2014 Volkswagen Jetta Review:
The Volkswagen Jetta is already one of the best-selling cars in its class, and for 2014 it offers even more. With a new engine choice, revised suspension and enhanced technology, the best-selling Volkswagen is better than ever, and it’s available here at our dealership.2014 Volkswagen Jetta with 1.8-liter Engine

The biggest change for 2014 is an all-new 1.8-liter TSI® inline four-cylinder engine replacing the 2.5-liter in SE and SEL trims. With 170 hp and 184 lb/ft of torque, the turbocharged new engine matches the previous engine’s horsepower but gains extra torque and makes it available at a lower rev range. It also cuts weight and increases fuel economy to an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city and 36 mpg highway with the automatic transmission, marking an improvement of five mpg highway. Plus, the new engine runs on standard unleaded; no premium needed.

To enhance the performance and economy of the 1.8-liter turbo, the previous hydraulic power steering system has been replace with a more advanced electric-assist rack-and-pinion steering system, similar to the system employed in the Jetta TDI® and GLI models.

Already precise handling characteristics have been enhanced in the 2014 Jetta. A new multi-link rear suspension like that found on the Jetta GLI is standard across the entire Jetta line. This gives the 1.8-liter-equipped Jetta trims a much more refined ride while improving poise during cornering.

There are four trim levels that feature the new 1.8-liter turbo inline four-cylinder: SE, SE with Connectivity, SE with Connectivity and Sunroof, and SEL. The SE (MSRP $18,895) comes packed with features like heated front seats and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. The SE with Connectivity adds alloy wheels, Bluetooth® hands-free capability and Volkswagen Car-Netservices (more about this below). In addition to a power sunroof, the SE with Connectivity and Sunroof adds keyless access with push-button start and a Premium VIII touch-screen radio.

With standard 17-inch alloys, foglamps, soft-touch interior materials and a rearview camera system, the SEL is loaded with great equipment. An RNS® 315 touch-screen navigation unit and Fender® Premium Audio System are also included on the SEL equipment list.

Apart from the new engine, the biggest addition to the 2014 Jetta is the VW Car-Netsystem. Automatic Crash Notification, roadside assistance, stolen vehicle location assistance, remote vehicle access, boundary and speed alerts and vehicle health reports are all included in this new suite of convenience and security features. Most of the features can be accessed via a new smartphone app.

Award-wining occupant protection continues to be a hallmark of every Jetta. Six airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution, Hydraulic Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control and the Volkswagen Intelligent Crash Response System are all included as standard features.
Every Jetta is covered by the Volkswagen Carefree Maintenance® program, which covers oil and filter changes, dust and pollen filter replacements and more for the first two-years or 25,000 miles.

The German-engineered and Tennessee-built Volkswagen Jetta––always a great value with powerful engines, refined driving dynamics and handsome styling––gets even better for 2014 thanks to its new, more efficient engine and outstanding technology and safety features.
